How to show a question only when it applies

Ask in chat: "only show the child waiver if they pick child care." Those questions stay hidden until then, and they're required only once they show.

Updated 2026-10-19

Some questions only matter for some people: a waiver for families who add child care, a parent's name for a runner under 18. Tell the builder in chat, the same way you'd say it out loud:

  • “Only show the child waiver and emergency contact if they pick child care.”
  • “Ask for a parent's name only if they answer Yes to under 18.”

Those questions stay hidden until someone picks that option or gives that answer. Once they show, anything you made required is required, and the form won't go through without it. Nobody else is asked, and nothing is saved for a question someone never saw.

In the builder preview, a note above each one says when it shows. Pick the option in the preview to see it.

What it doesn't do

  • One condition per question: no “this and that”, and no “older than 12” style ranges. Use an exact answer, like Yes or No.
  • It shows and hides questions; it doesn't change prices.
  • It asks once per sign-up. For several children, ask “Children's names and ages” as one question.
