How to limit how many people can sign up

You don't set these with menus or toggles. Just describe the limit in chat and the form enforces it on the server, so nothing can be overbooked. There are three kinds, and you can combine them. To avoid confusion, here's what each one means and how to ask for it.

Cap a single option

A running total for one option: it shows how many are left and turns to "Sold out" at zero.

• Say: "Max 12 seats."
• Say: "Each time slot holds 1 person."

Cap a group of options together

A shared limit across a set of options: once that many are taken across the whole set, every option in the set closes, even ones that still had room on their own. Useful for time slots, sessions, or days where you only need a set number filled overall.

• Say: "There are 4 time slots each day, but I only need 2 filled per day. Once 2 are taken, close that day's other slots."
• Say: "Only 10 volunteers total across all the weekend shifts."

Limit how many each person picks

A cap on one respondent's own choices, so a single person can't grab everything. It resets for each new person.

• Say: "Each person can sign up for at most 2 slots."
• Say: "Pick up to 3 of these 6 workshops."

They stack. A volunteer sheet might be: each slot holds 1 (single option), only 2 needed per day (group), and each parent can take at most 2 (per person), all from one description in chat. You can also prevent conflicts ("no two sessions at the same time"). See the capabilities page.

Collect toward a goal (a needs list)

Sometimes you're not rationing seats; you're filling a total, and people contribute an amount toward it. The form shows live progress ("50 of 100") and won't let it be overfilled. Good for supply drives, potlucks, and volunteer counts.

• Say: "We need 100 rolls of paper towels. Let people say how many they'll bring."
• Say: "Potluck: we need 10 sides and 8 desserts."

Each contribution can be free or priced (e.g. sponsor 5 meals at $10 each). Once the goal is met, the item shows "Goal met" and closes.
